The International Wizard of Oz Club‘s annual Munchkin Convention heads to Princeton, N.J. this year. The club is celebrating the 150th birthday of Oz creator L. Frank Baum with a series of lectures by Oz scholars, a “Munchcon” fare of meet-and-greets and Oz memorabilia sales and auctions.
One of the last surviving Munchkins, Clarence Swenson, age 88, will be there as well to sign autographs and take pictures in his replica soldier’s costume.
Admission is free and the event is open to public from 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. If your in the area, you should check it out. Here’s the information.
This sounds like a cool event. Who doesn’t love The Wizard of Oz? If I had known about it earlier, I would’ve driven to Princeton. Sigh, there’s always next year.
That would be fun to attend. Some theaters near me have been playing it for free as a matinee.
