Tonight’s SAG Awards should be very routine. The expected winners will win and if any surprises occur, there will be very few. (Because in Cinefille’s world, where she controls all award shows, Abigail Breslin would beat out Jennifer Hudson.) Here are my predictions of who the most likely winners will be.
———————
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Leonardo DiCaprio – Blood Diamond
Ryan Gosling – Half Nelson
Peter O’Toole – Venus
Will Smith – The Pursuit of Happyness
Forest Whitaker – The Last King of Scotland
Who Should Win: Unfortunately, I have only seen The Last King of Scotland, so my opinion doesn’t have the foundation I would like to.
Who Will Win: Forest Whitaker, but Peter O’Toole does have one thing working in his favor. He’s a legend.
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Penelope Cruz – Volver
Judi Dench – Notes on a Scandal
Helen Mirren – The Queen
Meryl Streep – The Devil Wears Prada
Kate Winslet – Little Children
Who Should Win: I have now seen The Queen twice and Helen Mirren was amazing both times.
Who Will Win: Helen Mirren. It will be one of the biggest shocks of the year if Helen Mirren doesn’t win.
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
Alan Arkin – Little Miss Sunshine
Leonardo DiCaprio – The Departed
Jackie Earle Haley – Little Children
Djimon Hounsou – Blood Diamond
Eddie Murphy – Dreamgirls
Who Should Win: I would love it if Alan Arkin or Jackie Earle Haley won but…
Who Will Win: Eddie Murphy’s performance in Dreamgirls is one the best things about the movie.
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Adriana Barraza – Babel
Cate Blanchett – Notes on a Scandal
Abigail Breslin – Little Miss Sunshine
Jennifer Hudson – Dreamgirls
Rinko Kikuchi – Babel
Who Should Win: Adriana Barraza, Cate Blanchett, Rinko Kikuchi and especially Abigail Breslin deliver great performances however…
Who Will Win: Jennifer Hudson’s name is probably being engraved in the statue as I’m writing this.
Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
Babel
Bobby
The Departed
Dreamgirls
Little Miss Sunshine
Who Will Win: The main reason why I believe Alan Arkin and Abigail Breslin will not win in their respective categories is because …
Who Should Win: Little Miss Sunshine is going to walk away with the Best Ensemble SAG. Little Miss Sunshine is a delightful movie and every actor’s dream. Babel could also win, but LMS is more likely.

There you have it, folks.
To wrap up my predictions are: Best Actor, Forest Whittaker; Best Actress, Helen Mirren; Best Supporting Actor, Eddie Murphy; Best Supporting Actress, Jennifer Hudson and Best Ensemble, Little Miss Sunshine.
Who knows, maybe there will be some surprises.
The 13th annual SAG Awards air tonight at 8pm on TBS and TNT. Julie Andrews is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
It’s crazy how these nominations are nearly identical to the Oscar nominations.
OMG. I heard the craziest thing about Abigail Breslin. There’s a girl who I go to school with, whose younger sister goes to school with Abigail Breslin. Apparently, Little Miss Sunshine ain’t so sunny. Personally, I refuse to believe that.
