Why?
Two things I have been dying to get have finally arrived.
1) My copy of The Departed. I might have gotten sucked into a crappy deal, but I really don’t care because now I can watch this movie over and over and over. Or at least until I buy a copy of Little Miss Sunshine.
2) The annual Hollywood Issue of Vanity Fair aka my Holy Grail. This year’s cover feature Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Chris Rock and Jack Black, unlike last year’s that had Tom Ford sandwiched by Scarlett Johanssen and Keira Knightly (both naked).
The portfolio inside is a film-noir inspired layout, photographed and directed by Annie Leibovitz.
Today is a great day.

i don’t know if you already know about this, but vanity fair has two online videos promoting this amazing hollywood issue. the second link is a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot.

Awesome! I noticed them when I was on the site earlier but I didn’t check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
I LOVE this VF issue! The writing is so DEAD ON!! It would make a great film and the pictures are awsome!
Why I bought it? Namely for The Franco Factor & catching a Slyce of Sly!! Woo-Hoo!!

P.S. – I’ve been into classic films since a child. My mom did the same as yours – we used to sit & watch those blk/wh classics ALL THE TIME & I got hooked! LOVED films from the ’40’s!
I know! It was perfect! I loved every bit of it! Thanks for stopping by :)
Thanks for the word on Vanity Fair. It’s not a mag I typically buy – but this one is a must if only for the film noir art.
Love the Departed. Got the special edition for my husband for V-day. Or was it really a gift for me?
We watched it (again) and contemplated what was what.
