Live Blogging the Oscars Red Carpet!
It is (almost) time for the 80th Academy Awards (1 hour and 15 minutes to be exact). And I can’t wait! In fact…
I’m so excited, I just can’t hide it, I know, I know, I know…. I want the Oscars to start!
Okay, I got that out of my system. I’m live blogging and having some friends over to celebrate Hollywood’s most fabulous night! The
8:09 The Red Carpet with Regis Philbin is 1000 times better than the Red Carpet with Ryan Seacrest. Regis just gives entertainment reporting a level of class and professionalism that Ryan Seacrest can never attain.
8:19 Some of my favorites from the Red Carpet:

8:27 3 MINUTES 3 MINUTES 3 MINUTES!

8:41 OMG! JON STEWART KILLED IT. He was amazing!! I have never laughed that hard during an introduction in so hard.
8:43 Best Costume Design: Alexandra Byrne, Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
8:47 George Clooney is talking about the history of the Oscars. IT’S A MONTAGE and it was a good one.
8:52 Steve Carell: “Thank you Jon for that lovely introduction. You never need for attention never ceases to amaze me.”
Best Animated Feature: Ratatouille. Pingu is sad about that one. Cute, “Dreamers supporting a rat who dreams”
8:56 Katharine Heigl presenting Best Make-Up to…. Didier Lavergne and Jan Archibald La Vie En Rose

9:00 Amy Adams performing “Happy Working Song” And they say I’m awkward. You can tell they had no idea what to do with the sets for this performance.
9:07 Achievement in Visual Effects: Michael Fink, Bill Westenhofer, Ben Morris and Trevor Wood, The Golden Gompass9:10 Cate Blanchett is gorgeous. Best Art Direction: Dante Ferretti (Art Direction); Francesca Lo Schiavo (Set Decoration), Sweeney Todd

9:14 A Best Supprting Actor mini montage! Yay! Wow. J-Hud, you are so not a professionally trained actress.

Best Supporting Actor goes to….. JAVIER BARDEM! Fantastic acceptance speech. Although the speeches are far more rushed this year.

9:23 A writer-less Oscars: “Please enjoy Oscars salute to binoculars and periscopes.” “Bad dreams and Oscars” Hahaha!

9:28 Performance from August Rush. That little girl can sing. Lets see you do that, Hannah Montana.

9:29 Best Live Action Short: Le Mozart des Pickpockets (The Mozart of Pickpockets)

9:32 Best Animated Short Film: Peter and the Wolf. Was it necessary to have Bee Movie present that?

9:35 Supporting Actress mini-montage! I love montages sooo much.

Best Supporting Actress goes to… TILDA SWINTON! Woah. Was not (really) expecting that. Hilarious speech, Everyone loves poking fun at George Clooney. And I am so happy that Michael Clayton won something.

9:45 Technical awards presented by Jessica Alba and Jon Stewart making fun of Jack Nicholson.

9:46 Josh Brolin and James McAvoy presenting Best Adapted Screenplay. They were funny. Joel and Ethan Coen win for No Country Old Men.

9:48 Sid Ganis and the presentation on how Academy members vote was actually kind of cute.

9:52 Miley Cyrus: what are you doing at the Oscars? Please go away.

9:53 Kristin Chenoweth. I thought she would make Miley Cyrus being there better. Alas she did not.

10:04 Dame Judi Dench and Halle Berry! Oh wait. It’s not It’s Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill, presenting Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing. The Bourne Ultimatum.

10:28 Best Editing: Christopher Rouse, The Bourne Ultimatum

10:49 Best Original Song: “Falling Slowly” from Once. So good; I love that movie and that soundtrack.

10:53 Complaint: Why when two people win, the Academy cuts the other person off? It has happened almost every time tongiht

10:56 Thank you for letting Marketa Irglova say her acceptance speech. The best one of the night by far.

10:58 Apparently if you’re Cameron Diaz you need talent and beauty to get ahead. Really? She’s not that talented and really not that pretty. And she can’t pronounce cinematography.

Best Cinematography goes to… Robert Elswit, There Will Be Blood

Best Actor goes to: DANIEL DAY LEWIS! He is by far the classiest actor in Hollywood.

Mhhmm, Daniel Day Lewis is also better than a vibrator.

11:41 Best Director mini-montage!

MARTIN SCORSESE!!!! He’s not nominated but I love him oh so much.

Best Director goes to… Ethan Coen and Joel Coen.
