Sandra Bullock made her first public appearance since the personal scandal that rocked her life made national headlines. At Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards (one of those truly unnecessary award shows but I won’t get into that) Bullock made a surprise appearance to accept the “Troops Choice” Award for Entertainer of the Year, from presenter Robert Downey, Jr. The honor was bestowed by members of the military.
After a lengthy round of applause and standing ovation Bullock said, “Let’s be honest here, just for a moment. We’re all going to be honest, right? Did I win this for being entertainer of the year, or did I win this because of the spectacular I.E.D. explosion that became my personal life?! No, it’s okay. Because I would do it over again if it was to entertain our troops , and our extraordinary troops deserve something much more than some actress in a tight dress talking herself. I would sing, but you’ve seen enough pain in your lifetime. I would dance – I’m a pretty good dancer, but as I mentioned, the dress is pretty tight.”
With this public appearance and her schedule appearance at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, where Bullock will receive the Generation Award, it is safe to say that we will be hearing a lot about Bullock’s humor and grace at this time in her life. Not that I mind. This is a great thing to witness.
