Here is what I watched this week.
King Creole (dir. Michael Curtiz, 1958)
My favorite Elvis film to date. [Related post: The Elvis Files – King Creole]
The Naked Spur (dir. Anthony Mann, 1953)
A great Western that features a nearly perfect performance from James Stewart and fantastic direction from Anthony Mann.
A Dangerous Method (dir. David Cronenberg, 2011)
While Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender, and Viggo Mortensen are fantastic in David Cronenberg’s historical drama, something is missing.
Metropolitan (dir. Whit Stillman, 1990)
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZmOn5VzwUI]I watched this to refresh my memory. I can’t wait to see Damsels in Distress.
Gilda (dir. Charles Vidor, 1946)
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY2IpSCV-Nk]Apparently there are other actors in Gilda besides Rita Hayworth. Go figure.
