Remember in December when I said I would start recapping the second season of Skins? Well I didn’t forget. I just put it off until now. So here it goes, another round of Skins Rewind, where I go back to the first seasons of Skins and reminisce about the good ol’ days. It’s not that I don’t like the current generation but if you’re watching series 6 then you know that Skins has taken a very dark and depressing turn.
Here it is. The final Skins Rewind for series 1. What’s in store for the finale? Anwar’s 17th birthday party and a whole lot of relationship drama. And lingering stares from across roadways. And trucks. And unexpected musical numbers.
If this episode doesn’t cement your love for Skins, nothing will.
Effy Stonem, for a number of reasons, is my favorite Skins character. She’s dark, funny, edgy, way too smart for her age, and no Skins character is bigger mess than her. This first season episode introduces us to Effy’s enigmatic ways long before she went nuts in season 4. Looking back on it now, this episode says one thing: Effy Stonem is here and we better get used to her.

Welcome to the most ridiculous episode of Skins in the history of Skins. On one hand, it’s about the wonderful romance – okay, friendship – between Anwar and Maxxie. (Aside: I’m convinced that Dev Patel and Mitch Hewer should star in a buddy cop movie together. It needs to happen.) On the other, this episode sets off the major events that happen that have the most lasting impact on the first Skins generation. And it’s all set in Russia. Sorry Russia, you never knew what was coming. Or did you?
