A Spoonful Of Sugar To Begin Your Day With (Not Really)

Haha! I love videos like this, that play with our expectations of adored classics. Personally, I’m a big fan of It’s a Wonderful Life — Hitchcock Style.

Have a great day :)

Lifetime Achievement Award: Julie Andrews

Julie Andrews will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award.

When I was younger, I always wanted to have Mary Poppins fly into my home and become my nanny. So this makes me incredibly happy.

I LOVE Julie Andrews. She is one of the rare movie actresses who managed to keep working despite the limits Hollywood sets for female actresses. (She deserves a lifetime achievement award just for that.)

Andrews was the first choice to play Eliza Doolite in My Fair Lady ( she had originated the role on Broadway but the part eventually went to Audrey Hepburn). Reportedly, Jack L. Warner didn’t believe she would be photogenic enough.

Did any of that matter? No. That same year (1964) , Julie Andrews starred in two feature films. Mary Poppins and The Americanization of Emily, winning the Academy Award for Mary Poppins.

Julie Andrews’ film career can be summed up with one iconic cinematic moment.
