These are two articles that caught my attention today.
Academy Award nominee William Hurt is furious someone stole his Oscar while he was moving last year. Hurt is currently nominated as Best Supporting Actor for A History Of Violence, and won the Best Actor Oscar for Kiss Of The Spider Woman
in 1985. He explains, “I think it happened last June. The house was being moved. It just got lost in transition.” The star says he is still trying to track down his missing award, even though he never kept it on display. He adds, “I don’t sport trophies around the home. I don’t want my children thinking of me that way. Somebody ripped it off. I’m trying to get it replaced… I’m p**sed off.”
Redford: “Sundance getting out of control”
Hollywood veteran Robert Redford fears his Sundance Film Festival is growing too big, after seeing celebrities like Paris Hilton attend the event. Redford hosted his 25th annual festival in Park City, Utah, last month, which was started in 1979 to showcase low-budget, independent films and talent. However, as the festival grows larger and larger every year, some celebrities have begun turning up just for parties, even though they have nothing to do with the films on show. Redford tells Newsweek magazine, “To the outside world, it’s a big fat market where you have people like Paris Hilton going to parties. Now, she doesn’t have anything to do with anything. I think the festival is close to being out of control.” Despite Redford’s disdain for the socialite, Hilton has attended the parties of Sundance every year since 2004.

Whoever had the nerve to steal William Hurt’s Oscar is a jerk. I’ve discussed before this when Gregory Peck’s Walk of Fame star was stolen.
I feel bad for Robert Redford and the Sundance Festival. It just proves that Hollyowod really is about the money and exposure. Plus, any event that Paris Hilton attends knocks it down in class about 10 levels in my book. If Robert Redford wants the festival to return to its Indie roots then the first step would be to remove the Sundance Channel from television.
Thoughts?
