This post is for my friend Chrissy, who scoffed at the news that her favorite book, The Lovely Bones, has been adapted into a movie. After seeing the recently released trailer this afternoon, I disagree.
For starters the cast is pretty phenomenal. Saoirse Ronan (Atonement) plays Susie Salmon, a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family. Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz play her parents while Susan Sarandon portrays her grandmother. And Stanley Tucci gets his creepy neighbor on, playing George Harvey.
The Lovely Bones is no doubt a difficult film to adapt but I have faith that director Peter Jackson will do the book justice. I mean he can’t mess it up worse than the schmuck who decided to change the end of My Sister’s Keeper.
Thoughts? The Lovely Bones will be released on December 11.
So Chrissy, do you approve?
I really cannot wait for me. Weisz, Ronan, Tucci and Wahlberg all have to impress since I've been waiting since their last [good] performances in The Constant Gardener, Atonement, Devil Wears Prada and The Departed.
I agree, the cast alone is enough reason for me to give this movie a chance.
I am looking forward to this so much it's ridiculous. it terrifies the crap out of me, but its looks so good I don't care.
hehe sorry i didn't check blogger for a while. i am a little apprehensive, but i will def go see it bc the preview looks good. also i agree the cast is a good one.
